My Little Garden 15th June 2024
After another wet and windy week, I’m looking forward to a weekend of rest and relaxation. The August garden article for Cheshire Life Magazine is finished, and I just have a few other jobs to finish off before I take a little break. My little electric car is having its first mot on Monday, which I’m hoping it will sail through and not cause me any expense or hassle. Considering how long it was out of action over winter, waiting for a battery module from Timbuktu, it will be extremely annoying if more issues are found.
The garden is still looking very green and lush, but the sunny days are few and far between. With the longest day fast approaching, I’m wondering whether we will ever see summer at all this year. On that happy note, here are my Six on Saturday.
1. Astrantia
The plants are loving the rain, and I’m loving the fact that the slugs ignore them.
2. Clematis ‘Bijou’
A perfect clematis for a pot, even if some of the leaves are a little nibbled.
3. Eryngium ‘Victory Blue’
It’s slightly ironic at the moment that I bought this plant for its drought tolerant qualities.
4. Geranium ‘Red Admiral’
A hybrid of Geranium psilostemon x Geranium sylvaticum ‘Baker’s Pink, this lovely magenta coloured geranium was recommended to me a few years ago, and it doesn’t disappoint.
5. Salvia nemerosa ‘Amethyst’
I’m growing this in a large container to keep the slugs away. It’s usually covered in bees, so I’ve no idea why they are missing in this shot.
6. Geranium ‘Splish Splash’
All the geraniums are doing brilliantly this year, but this is possibly my favourite!
Have a great weekend, and thanks for reading.
