My Little Garden 18th Jan 2025
After all the excitement of last week’s snow, there are very few new developments to report in the garden this week. It’s true that the shoots of the bulbs have grown a little higher under the snow, and the hellebores are standing more or less upright again, but I’m struggling for anything really photogenic to share with you. February can’t come soon enough, so here we go with the best of a bad bunch.
- Daffs
Having a bunch of daffodils on my kitchen windowsill is always a cheery sight, and the fact that they were reduced to 30p a bunch in the corner shop made them an absolute bargain.
2. Snowdrops
Still a week or so from opening properly, but we’re getting there. It was a very gloomy day, and they’re in a tricky spot, so apologies for the quality of this shot
3. Cyclamen coum
These took a bit of a battering, but they’re still providing a bit of colour.
4. Hellebore x ericsmithii ‘Early Princess’
This one is still standing after the snow and frost, but it looks a bit sorry for itself.
5. Philodendron
On the windowsill only for the purpose of photography, this houseplant has beautiful leaves.
6. Allium
Allium shoots are popping up in the garden, so I have high hopes for May. In the meantime, these are last year’s dried ones, which still look interesting.
So there we have it. My indoor and outdoor six on Saturday. Will have to try harder next week, but in the meantime, thanks for reading, and have a great weekend.
