My Little Garden 19th Oct 2024
Last week, I was unable to publish a Six on Saturday blog because Medium demanded an annual fee, which I wasn’t inclined to pay (cheapskate I know). When I checked yesterday, the restriction was no longer there. What’s going on, I wonder. Anyway, I’m so glad I didn’t fork out the £50 that was requested.
On to gardening matters, here’s a hasty selection of photos taken yesterday that are my six choices from a mostly glorious autumn week.
In no particular order:
- Geranium ‘Ann Thomson’
Still flowering after all these months.
2. Crab apples
Blue sky providing a fabulous contrast.
3. Aster
This was (or would have been) in last week’s blog. A late season impulse buy which I hope I don’t lose over winter.
4. A corner of the garden
I’ve partly cleared this area to remove hiding places for slugs and snails. The veronicastrum is dying very elegantly, the mahonia at the back will flower soon, and the stems of the cornus will provide winter colour. In January, snowdrops will start to appear.
5. Relics of summer
I’m amazed how long these have lasted.
6. Hydrangea
The once white flowers of ‘Little Lime’ are very pink now, before they undergo their final change to winter brown.
That’s it from me. See you next week, hopefully!
