My Little Garden 21st September 2024
It has taken until the second half of September to see more than an occasional butterfly in the garden, but the warm weather this week has brought some very welcome visitors.
The verbena has proved very popular with them, and on one of the sunny days, I was poised with camera in hand ready to snap away. The results aren’t brilliant, but at least they were here, and naturally, I’m going to start my ‘six’ with one of them.
- Comma
The most regular of the visitors this week.
2. Rose
‘The Generous Gardener’s is still flowering away and trying to escape over the fence into the next garden.
3. Tomatoes
It’s been a real struggle, but a few more have ripened in this week’s sunshine.
4. Gaura
‘Rosy Jane’s has come good at last and is putting on a bit of a show.
5. Geranium
‘Anne Thomson’ is having another flush of flowers.
6. And finally
A view of the rusty water bowl and surrounding grasses and heuchera. You might just spot the label of a little yellow hellebore. I don’t think this is quite the right place for it, but I haven’t decided yet.
I think the fine weather is coming to an end now, but it’s been the best week of the summer. Time to start planning for winter and thinking about spring bulbs.
Have a great weekend.
