My Little Garden 22nd Jan 2022
It’s been a bit nippy this week, one or two mornings of frost plus the usual uninspiring January weather. Garden time has been non-existent because we’ve been back to our usual schedule of childminding, plus an extra day due to an injury in the other grandparent household. I can’t see any way out of this extra day any time soon, so we just have to work around it.
Fortunately, I found a moment or two to rush out with the camera to capture a few frosty things for Six on Saturday.
- Frosty leaf
It’s probably the first time this winter that we’ve had frost that lasted until it was light enough to take photos. So here’s a stray leaf lying on my frosted grass. A bit of grass with minimal moss by the looks of it. Quite a novelty in a north facing garden after a period of prolonged rain.
2. Frosty twigs
Otherwise known as Prunus incisa Kojo-no-mai . A dinky little plant that dares to call itself a tree.
3. Frosty flowers
Last summer’s left over lavender surviving for the sole purpose of frosty photos, when garden choices for Six on Saturday are in short supply.
4. Frosty garden stake
Not much frost left on this by the time I got to it, but in order to continue with the predominant theme of the week ……
5. Rejected crab apples
For some reason these were overlooked by the birds and are now in a state of decay that is really rather interesting in a forensic sort of way.
6. Snowdrops on the cusp
These are taking their time, but here we are. Hopefully they will do better for next week!
