My Little Garden 25th Jan 2025

Yesterday, it was a case of batten down the hatches to survive the enslaught of Storm Éowyn. Fortunately, whilst a few trees came down in the area, we got off quite lightly, and apart from the metal heron, which fell headlong into the water bowl, the garden survived intact. Hopefully, February will prove to be a bit calmer.

I carried out the usual, slightly desperate, search of the plot to see what I could find to share this week, and this is what I found for Six on Saturday.

  1. Yellow crocus

I was rather excited to see this, and hopefully it is the first of many.

2. Purple crocus

More flowers are appearing on Crocus sieberi ‘Firefly’ after the first got flattened by the snow.

3. Photinia

Always a reliable winter evergreen. The variety is ‘Pink Marble’.

4. Stems

Not really in an ideal spot to photograph, but it does add some winter colour to the garden.

5. Skimmia japonica

Purchased in autumn and now residing in shady corner.

6. Hellebore

A little earlier than previous years, Penny’s Pink has come through the trauma of snow and ice pretty well.

I’m hoping to go and see a garden with snowdrops this weekend. Fingers crossed for a dryish day tomorrow. Have a great weekend and see you in February.
