My Little Garden 25th May 2024

A brief ‘Six on Saturday’ from me this week, as I’ve run of time.

Fortunately, I took these photos on Wednesday before the rain started, and I hate to say this, but we did need some rain after a couple of very welcome dry weeks. If only we could switch the rain on and off like a tap….

A few things in the garden have suffered from the battering of wind and rain, so my job for the day is to sort these out.

  1. Roses

This week I’m sharing Rosa ‘The Generous Gardener’. A lovely rose with an equally lovely fragrance.

2. Salvia ‘Rose Marvel’

A new purchase and I’m hoping the plant is big enough to withstand the slugs.

3. Iris

A blue one from the mislabelled bag of iris bulbs last autumn.

4. Verbascum ‘Southern Charm’.

This was before the rain.

Sadly it doesn’t look like this any more, so an impromptu Chelsea Chop is needed.

5. Geranium ‘Ann Folkhard’ and friend

I love the magenta coloured geraniums, and this rather short in stature allium has decided to pop up in the middle of a clump.

6. Penstemon ‘Catherine de la Mare’

I’m really pleased that this early flowering penstemon survived the winter. It’s doing well in its pot and happily mingling with the orange geum.

Here they are in the rain yesterday.

Have a great Bank Holiday weekend and happy gardening.
