My Little Garden 28th Sept 2024
Autumn has arrived in my garden this week. After a week of glorious sunshine, things are starting to change, and I’m not quite ready for it. Physical gardening has also been a bit of a struggle as I’ve had a painful knee and been hobbling around. Anything that involved kneeling or bending my right leg was impossible until Thursday when miraculously it started to improve. I hope this isn’t a sign of things to come, but at least I’ve cut back on the bulb planting work this year.
I’m very conscious this week that you’ve probably seen all my six choices before, but so far I haven’t had to resort to pictures of bulbs waiting to be planted (that might be next week!) Anyway, here we go for the last Saturday in September.
- Anemones
‘Pamina’ isn’t my favourite but she is very reliable for autumnal pinkness.
2. Verbena officinalis ‘Bampton’
So hard to photograph but such a great perennial to have in the mix
3. Penstemon ‘Laura’
I’m very happy that this is giving me a late flower.
4. Aster amellus ‘Veilchenkonigin’
This hasn’t had the best of years, and deserves a little more tlc than I’ve given it this summer.
5. Gladiolus byzantina
I thought these had finished weeks ago, so this one is a nice surprise.
6. Prunus ‘Kojo-no-mai’
The leaves are turning red, which is a sure sign of autumn.
Have a great weekend, and see you in October.
