My Little Garden 2nd Nov 2024
I wasn’t sure what I’d have to share with you for this first Saturday in November. Would a photo of an upside down squirrel on the fat ball feeder suffice? Or maybe the sample of paving for the new patio? Or what about a picture of the Dorset Apple Cake I made with apples from a friend’s tree?
As it turned out, I managed to scrabble a few things together, but it is getting a bit desperate. These are my six.
- Aster
I did share this the other week, but Aster x frikartii Monch is looking rather splendid, unlike some other asters I could mention. Their days may be numbered as I’ve been threatening to get rid of the little white one for years, and it hasn’t given me a single flower this year.
2. Cotinus coggyria ‘Royal Purple’
The leaves are just starting to change to a fabulous shade of red.
3. Cotinus ‘Golden Lady’
I didn’t buy this for me, but the client for whom it was intended last year changed her mind, so it’s been living with me.
4. Catananche caerulea
I like these, but I lost the originals last winter and had to replace. It won’t get a third chance.
5. Cyclamen number one
This is supposed to be hardy but I can’t remember it’s name. It’s been flowering for ages.
6. Cyclamen number two
This one is called Cyclamen coum x Rose Silver Leaf, and I bought it last week for the colour of its leaves as much as the prospect of pink flowers.
And that’s it for another week. My bulb planting count (for the benefit of Graham)
https://onemanandhisgardentrowel.wordpress.com/ will be around 1400 this year, by the time the tulips go in. A slight guess because one client produced extra narcissi and crocus for me to plant that hadn’t made it to the trusty spreadsheet. This is a good reduction on last year, so I guess I really am winding down to retirement.
Have a good weekend.
