My Little Garden 30th Nov 2024
What a difference a week makes. I’m very pleased, and relieved, to say that Storm Bert didn’t cause much of an issue here last weekend, and although there was a bit of flooding not too far away, the wind wasn’t much more than a gentle breeze.
Frosty mornings over the last few days however, have seen off the last of the lingering flowers, and winter has most definitely arrived.
Work on the new patio only started on Friday, so I don’t have anything to share with you yet, but it was a good start yesterday.
My Six on Saturday this week is mainly about frost.
- Hydrangea
Only a couple of weeks ago, there was still a touch of pink. Now the flowers will remain brown until I cut back in spring.
2. More frost
Heuchera leaves always look pretty with some white sparkles.
3. Mahonia
A great provider of November colour.
And interesting shapes.
4. Skimmia
A recent purchase, I’m hoping to slot this into the shady corner when the paving is done.
5. Aster fluffiness
Although prone to slug damage, Eurybia x herveyi ‘Twilight’ (aka Aster ‘Twilight’) has always done reasonably well in previous years. This year, I only had a few flowers and, therefore only a few fluffy seedheads.
6. Fuchsia
Last week, I mentioned how well Fuchsia ‘Delta’s Sarah’ was doing. What a difference a week makes.
And that’s it for another week. I’m taking one of my grandaughters on a birthday shopping trip to the Trafford Centre today. It’s not my favourite place, but it will be nice to spend some time with her.
Have a great weekend, and see you next week: same time same place.
