My Little Garden 6th April 2024
April is quite possibly my favourite month of the year. It’s full of flowers, lengthening days, and warm sunshine. Ok, maybe not the last one, but I’m an optimist. Easter has come and gone, chocolate and hot cross buns have been consumed, and apart from a few irritations, it’s been a good week. One of my pet hates is when people don’t return calls or messages, and that’s happened a few times this week. Very frustrating! Fortunately, I have my garden to enjoy, and in between showers and chasing people up I’ve been busy.
I’m going to start my ‘six’ this week with a tulip.
Tulip 1
This is a nice enough tulip, but it’s supposed to be orange. Tulipa ‘Ballerina’ to be precise. Being sent the wrong bulbs and plants is getting to be a regular thing, and this has changed the whole tulip display. When the rest of this border starts to bloom I’ll show you the big picture.
Tulip 2
Tulipa ‘Peppermint Stick’ is fortunately looking exactly as it is supposed to look.
Tulip 3
I know I’ve shared this one before, but ‘Exotic Emporer’ was at its best on Thursday morning. I’m very happy with this one.
Erythronium
‘White Beauty’ is not in the best place to photograph, but it has such dainty little spring flowers.
Erysimum ‘Bowles Mauve’
As reliable as ever.
Brunnera ‘Sea Heart’
Now that the slugs have finished off most of the daffs, they’ve moved on to other things, including the leaves of this brunnera.
I’m off to a wedding today. Its been a while since I’ve been to one and even longer since I’ve been in a church. Hope the rain holds off!
Have a great weekend, and thanks for reading.
