My Little Garden 6th Nov 2021
It’s been a bit of a struggle this week to find photos that depict the garden in a good way. I still have colour, but some of the leaves have dropped before they reached their peak colour, and the wind and rain of the last couple of weeks have finished off most of the cosmos. I feel like I have loads of jobs to do, but not enough time to get them finished which is very frustrating. Basically I just need to sort myself out and get on with it!
My six choices for this week are a bit random and I’m starting with one of our feathered friends.
- Robin
On the days when I’ve had the time, or the inclination, to be in the garden, this little chap is always around hoping for extra titbits.
2. Mahonia
A November favourite in the shady corner. The flowers should be open in the next couple of weeks.
3. Wallflowers
Erysimum ‘Bowles Mauve’ is still going strong
And even Erysimum ‘Winter Orchid’ seems to have a new lease of life. All flowers are welcome at this time of year.
4. Grass
This is part of The Wafty Collection that I can see through the window. I don’t cut it back until late winter (and sometimes not even then). It looks great with a touch of frost, which we had on Friday, but not enough for frosted prettiness.
5. Mushrooms
There are lots of these lurking around an old tree stump.
6. Snapdragon
I feel the need to finish with a splash of colour, so here’s a macro shot of one of the last antirrhinum flowers.
And that’s it for the first week of November. I’m taking a break for a week to catch up on things, but I’ll back on 20th November with an update on the squirrel situation. I’ll also be taking part in #AlphabettyBlooms on twitter every day which is a hashtag that’s definitely worth following as well as #SixonSaturday
