My Little Garden 7th Sept 2024

It’s been a very pleasant start to September, with a whole day of glorious sunshine yesterday. Did I get to make the most of it? Not quite, but at least I got to spend a couple of hours in the garden.

I’m trying to show you snippets of the best bits of the garden this week, but looking back at this time last year, I’m very disappointed. Changes need to happen for 2025.

My six choices for this week are:

  1. Cosmos number one

I’m starting with a pink cosmos, which is growing rather well in semi shade.

2. Cosmos number two

This is in a pot in full sun. It’s been a battle to keep the slugs away.

3. Sedum matrona

Awaiting butterfly visitors.

4. Rosa ‘Gertrude Jekyll’

September pinkness from this beautifully scented rose.

5. Penstemon ‘Raven’

A brilliant perennial for autumn colour, which happily grows in semi shade.

6. Rosa Ballerina

This rose has loads of buds and should look good throughout the month. Another very welcome splash of pink.

That’s it for the first week in September. Have a great weekend.
