My Little Garden in Week 13 of Lockdown

This week we’ve had thunder, lightening, hail and lots and lots of rain. I mean just look at the colour of the sky behind the clematis. I know that grey is quite a trendy colour right now, and it’s a great choice for fence paint, but please can we have some blue sky back.

Actually, I think it might be my fault. I decided to take a ‘holiday’ of sorts this week and book tickets to a few different local gardens. My trip to Bluebell Cottage Gardens on Thursday was seriously wet, and holding an umbrella to keep a heavy camera dry, whilst trying to get a clear shot of flowers in the rain is not the easiest thing in the world. It was pretty much the same story at Dunham Massey on Friday too. It’s really good that the National Trust gardens are open again now, but they’re proving so popular that you have to go online to book your slot at 6 am when the dates are released every Friday. And I have to report that the weather forecast for the week ahead was very wrong when booked my trips for last week!

But apart from ‘holiday weather’, what’s been happening in my little garden in the week running up to the summer solstice.

1.My second attempt at owning and growing a Geranium Splish Splash has been successful. After the first plant turned out to be pure white and probably a completely different variety, these flowers are exactly what I’d hoped for. Isn’t it pretty!

2. The lavender is looking beautiful as always.

Lavender augustifolia ‘Hidcote’

3. The Japanese Anemone tentatively opened it’s first flower of the season and dreamed of warmer days.

4. The Salvia is almost there …..

5. And Rozanne is carrying on regardless of the elements.

6. And back to those grey skies again. Quite a nice background for this tall Thalictrum.

And that is my Six On Saturday for this week. I hope you’ve enjoyed a quick look at my garden highlights and for more ‘sixes’ take a look at the site of the creator of this weekly collection. His Six on Saturday is always an excellent read and there are many more photos and blogs on twitter under the hashtag #SixonSaturday
