Postcard from Gran Canaria
A rather sunnier Six on Saturday from me today, as the husband and I have had a week enjoying the balmy temperatures of Puerto Mogan in Gran Canaria. After a delayed start due to the closure of Manchester Airport in the snow, it’s been very pleasant to have a lazy week to recharge the batteries, and in a hotel with a garden full of interesting plants, it would be rude not to share a few with you.
- Tulip Trees
Outside our hotel is a pedestrianised walkway full of trees including the most beautiful Spathodea campanulata or African Tulip Tree in full bloom.
A cropped image of the flowers. What a colour!
2. Bismarkia nobilis
Just look at the size of those leaves.
3. Limes
Perfect for a G & T
4. Hibiscus
In every colour you could imagine
5. Cacti
Inside the grounds of the hotel is an interesting archaeological site. There are also some very impressive cacti.
6. Bougainvillea
With orange flowers instead of the usual pink.
On our way home shortly, and will miss the sunshine but very excited to see the changes in my garden. Will the iris be flowering yet? I’ll let you know.
Have a great weekend.
