Six on Saturday: My Garden in Mid March
It’s been a quiet winter in #mylittlegarden, but this blog is definitely long overdue. My excuse is a month in Australia at the beginning of the year and I’ve been catching up, sometimes not very successfully, ever since.
So what’s happening now we’re in the middle of March …… apart from rain, rain and more rain that is.
Well, the daffs are definitely doing their thing. I’ve tried a few different varieties this year to fill in the borders that I enlarged at the end of last summer. This one is Jetfire and it’s very bright and cheerful looking at the end of the garden.
I’ve also grown some W P Milner and Topolino which I’m pleased with, but my absolute favourite is Narcissus ‘Jack Snipe’. It’s a bit of blurry photo but blame Storm Gareth. I’ll definitely be adding more of these for next year.
The Anemone Blanda that I planted last year and had completely forgotten about is looking very pretty …… if you ignore the mudsplashes. I managed to take this photo in a brief window of sunshine a couple of days ago.
And the hellebores which have done so well this this year are still going strong. Mine are mostly at the back of the borders so when the flowers have finished I can just forget about them until next year as the summer flowering perennials shoot up around them.
My little dinky Fuji cherry (Prunus incisa ‘Kojo-no-Mai’) has also burst into life in the last couple of weeks. It was such a pretty little addition to the garden last year and I think I’m going to keep it in a container permanently. It’s nice to be able to move it into a prime position when it’s in flower.
And finally a little test to see if you read this blog to the end. One of my favourite tall perennials in the garden. Do you know what is?
Thanks for reading my first Six on Saturday.
